Women in the American Revolution

Women played a crucial yet often overlooked role during the American Revolution, contributing to the war effort both on the home front and in battle. Many women took on traditional male roles, managing farms and businesses while men were away fighting. Some, like Deborah Sampson, disguised themselves as men to enlist and fight. Others contributed by organizing boycotts of British goods and supporting the Continental Army through fundraising and nursing wounded soldiers.
