Earth systems consist of four main components: the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere. The atmosphere is the layer of gases surrounding our planet, essential for weather and climate. The hydrosphere includes all water on Earth, from oceans to rivers, which supports life and shapes landscapes. The lithosphere refers to the solid outer part of the Earth, including rocks and soil, which provides habitats and resources. Finally, the biosphere encompasses all living organisms, from plants to animals, and their interactions with the other systems. These systems work together in complex ways; for example, water from the hydrosphere evaporates into the atmosphere, forming clouds that eventually bring rain back to the surface, nourishing plants in the biosphere and eroding rocks in the lithosphere. Understanding these interactions helps us learn how to protect our planet.
