Transformations in geometry include movements of shapes on a coordinate plane. One type of transformation is rotation, which involves turning a shape around a fixed point called the center of rotation. For example, if you have a triangle located at points (1, 2), (3, 2), and (2, 4) and you want to rotate it 90 degrees clockwise around the origin (0, 0), you will change the position of each vertex. The new coordinates would be (-2, 1), (-2, 3), and (-4, 2). To perform a rotation, you can use the rotation rules, which depend on the angle of rotation. For a 90-degree clockwise rotation, the rule is to switch the x and y coordinates and change the sign of the new x coordinate. Understanding rotations helps visualize how shapes move and interact in space.
