One afternoon the sky turned dark. The wind started to blow. Mom said a storm was coming. We brought the patio chairs inside. We closed the windows. Then the rain came. It was heavy. We could hear thunder. The lights flickered. We sat in the living room. We told stories. We were not scared. We were together. After an hour the storm passed. The sun came out. We went outside. The air smelled fresh. There were puddles everywhere. We saw a rainbow. It was enormous. We had discovered that storms can be scary but they pass. Perhaps we had learned to stay calm. We had also learned that being together helps. The adventure of the storm was over. The yard was wet but everything was okay. We were grateful we were safe. Storms happen. But so do rainbows.
