In a democracy citizens have a say in how they are governed. One way is by voting. When we vote we choose leaders. We say yes or no to a law. Voting is a right. People have fought for the right to vote. It is also a responsibility. It is important to learn about the choices before we vote. We read about the people and the issues. We talk to others. We think about what we believe. Then we vote. Everyone's voice matters. Every vote counts. In a democracy we work together. We may not always agree. But we respect each other. Voting is one way we participate.
