Then & Now
๐ฐ๏ธ The choices made back then are why the world looks like this now.
The creation of the Constitution in 1787 was a response to the inadequacies of the Articles of Confederation, which had proven ineffective in governing the newly independent states. Delegates from thirteen states convened in Philadelphia to draft a document that would establish a stronger federal government while balancing the rights of states and individuals. The resulting Constitution introduced a system of checks and balances, delineated the separation of powers, and incorporated the Bill of Rights to safeguard individual liberties. Ultimately, the ratification process highlighted the contentious debates between Federalists, who supported a strong central government, and Anti-Federalists, who feared the potential for tyranny.
