Then & Now

๐Ÿ›๏ธ The rule you'll meet today is still on the books โ€” sort of.

The process of how a bill becomes a law is fundamental to understanding American democracy. It begins when a proposed law, known as a bill, is introduced in either the House of Representatives or the Senate. Once introduced, the bill is assigned to a committee for detailed examination and discussion. If the committee approves it, the bill is then debated by the entire chamber, where amendments may be added. After passing one chamber, it moves to the other for similar scrutiny. If both chambers agree on the final version, it is sent to the President, who can sign it into law or veto it, illustrating the intricate balance of governance.
