Then & Now
๐ฐ๏ธ History isn't really 'history' โ it shapes today, every day.
Mining towns and boomtowns emerged rapidly during the mid-1800s as prospectors flocked to areas rich in gold, silver, and other minerals. The California Gold Rush of 1849 is one of the most famous examples, where thousands of people rushed to California in hopes of striking it rich. These towns often sprang up overnight, filled with hopeful miners and merchants eager to sell goods and services. However, when the gold ran out, many of these boomtowns faced decline, transforming into ghost towns as residents moved on in search of new opportunities.
