The American Revolution saw two main groups: the Loyalists and the Patriots. Loyalists were people who remained loyal to the British Crown and wanted to keep British rule over the colonies. They believed that staying with Britain would provide them with more protection and stability. On the other hand, Patriots wanted independence and believed that the colonies should govern themselves without British interference.
