The Age of Exploration, occurring during the 15th to 17th centuries, marked a period of extensive overseas exploration by European powers. Motivated by the desire for new trade routes, wealth, and the spread of Christianity, explorers such as Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama, and Ferdinand Magellan embarked on journeys that connected distant lands. This era led to the discovery of the Americas, the circumnavigation of the globe, and the establishment of European colonies. However, it also resulted in significant consequences for indigenous populations, including cultural exchanges, exploitation, and the spread of diseases.
