Then & Now

Valley Forge, located in Pennsylvania, became the site of one of the most significant hardships faced by the Continental Army during the winter of 1777-1778. As soldiers endured extreme cold, starvation, and disease, the camp served as a crucible for the American military. Under George Washington's leadership, the army emerged from this bleak period stronger and more disciplined, thanks in part to the training provided by Baron von Steuben, a Prussian military officer. The resilience shown at Valley Forge not only bolstered morale but also solidified the commitment of the troops to the revolutionary cause.
