Types of Rocks: Metamorphic (Part 3)

๐ŸงชLab Brief #77

Types of Rocks: Metamorphic (Part 3).

๐ŸŽฏ Your mission

Run the experiment. Find out what really happens.

โšก The twist

Weather isn't random โ€” it's just complicated.

๐Ÿคฏ

Mind = Blown

๐ŸŒŠ The deepest part of the ocean is deeper than Mount Everest is tall.

๐Ÿ”ฎ

Make a hypothesis first

Before you observe: what shape will it leave?

What You'll Learn

The carbon cycle describes how carbon moves through atmosphere, biosphere, oceans, and rocks. Human activities like burning fossil fuels add extra carbon to the atmosphere.

Key Words

  • sediment
  • fossil

Materials Needed

  • rain gauge
  • cotton balls
  • food coloring
  • clear container
  • rocks

Safety First

  • Protect your work surface with newspaper or plastic.
  • Adult supervision recommended.

Steps

Step 1 โ€” Read

Look at the vocabulary words and write a definition for each in your own words.

Step 2 โ€” Do

Stretch Challenge

Try this in real life this week.

Look at the sky for 5 minutes and try to predict tomorrow's weather.
