Lesson 40 of 84 · Chemical Reactions

Lesson

Changing States: Evaporation (Part 2)

What You'll Learn

Evaporation happens when liquid particles at the surface gain enough energy to escape into the air as gas. Condensation is the reverse—gas particles slow down and form liquid.

  • neutron
  • electron

Steps

Step 1Read

Study the diagram and label the parts you recognize.

Step 2Do

Test 5 household liquids (vinegar, milk, lemon juice, baking soda water, soap) with pH paper. Classify each as acid, base, or neutral.

Step 3Observe

Draw a detailed diagram of what you observe.

Step 4Record

Write a conclusion: what did your results show? Did they match your prediction?
