Sampling is a method used to select a small group from a larger population so we can learn about the whole group without measuring everyone. Imagine you want to know the favorite ice cream flavor of all the students in your school, which has 500 students. Instead of asking each one, you could randomly choose 50 students to survey. This smaller group, or sample, should represent the larger group well if chosen correctly. After asking the 50 students about their favorite flavors, you can make a good guess about what the entire school likes. Sampling helps save time and resources while still providing useful information. However, itโ€™s important to choose a sample that is diverse and random to avoid bias in the results.
