I kept a nature journal for a month. I drew and wrote about what I saw. I was determined to notice details. The challenge was to go outside every day. I had a responsibility to be accurate. I learned to appreciate the natural world. The journal had a positive influence on my attention. It became a tradition to observe and record. Our community was the class sharing journals. We had achieved a record of the season. I had discovered that nature was full of surprises. I would never forget the birds I had drawn. The journal had taught me to look closely. I was grateful for the assignment.
