Sound has two important properties: pitch and volume. Pitch tells us how high or low a sound is. For example, a whistle makes a high-pitched sound, while a drum produces a low-pitched sound. Volume, on the other hand, measures how loud or soft a sound is. You can think of volume like turning up the radio; when you turn it up, the music gets louder! When you blow into a flute gently, it makes a soft sound, but blowing harder makes it louder. Together, pitch and volume help us understand and enjoy the many sounds we hear every day.
