Equivalent fractions are different fractions that represent the same value. For example, 1/2 and 2/4 are equivalent because if you divide a pizza into 2 equal parts, one part is half of the pizza, and if you divide it into 4 equal parts, 2 parts still make up half of the pizza. To find equivalent fractions, you can multiply or divide both the top number (numerator) and the bottom number (denominator) by the same number. So, if we multiply the numerator and denominator of 1/2 by 2, we get 2/4. This shows that both fractions are equal, or equivalent.
