Producers and consumers are two important parts of our food chain. Producers are living things, like plants, that make their own food using sunlight, air, and water. For example, a tree is a producer because it uses sunlight to grow and produce fruit. Consumers are animals and humans who eat plants or other animals. For instance, a rabbit is a consumer because it eats grass and leaves. Together, producers and consumers help keep nature balanced.
