Critical thinking is the ability to analyze information objectively and make reasoned judgments. It involves questioning assumptions, evaluating evidence, and considering alternative perspectives. Cognitive biases, such as confirmation bias and anchoring bias, can distort our thinking. Confirmation bias leads us to favor information that supports our existing beliefs. Anchoring bias causes us to rely too heavily on the first piece of information we encounter. Developing awareness of these biases is essential for making sound decisions and engaging in productive discourse.
