Plaster Casting a Hand (Part 6)

Mix alginate powder with water according to package directions. Pour into a container large enough for your hand.

Insert your hand (fingers slightly apart) and hold still until the alginate sets (about 3-4 minutes).

Gently wiggle your hand out, leaving a hollow mold.

Mix plaster of Paris and pour it into the mold. Tap the container to release air bubbles.

Let the plaster set overnight. Peel away the alginate to reveal your hand sculpture.
